Amritsari Channa Masala is authentic taste from Punjab.sometimes I made Channa Masala with Naan,Bhatura And Chapatis. This delicious gravy made with soaked chick peas and spices.Serve over basmati or jasmine rice and enjoy. Amritsari Channa Masala is a very easy and simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion chopped.

  • 1 onion chopped.

  • 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste.

  • 2 chilies (slit)

  • 1 bay leaf.

  • 1 tsp chili powder.

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder.

  • 1 tsp coriander powder.

  • salt as per taste.

  • 1 tsp garam Masala.

  • 1 tsp channa Masala.

  • 1 tea bag.

  • 15 ounce chick pea(soaked for 8 hr).

  • water as needed.

Directions

  • Wash chole really good and soak in enough water over night.
  • In pressure cooker add soaked channa, salt,tea bag and Close the lid and cook chole on medium heat until 7-8 whistles.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add bay leaves and slit chiles. You can add whole spices also if you want.
  • Add onion and fry until it turns nice golden for about 5-6 minutes.
  • Add tomato and mix well.
  • Fry tomatoes for about 4-5 minutes or these get mashed with onions.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder,Garam masala, Channa masala, red chili powder and mix well.
  • Fry everything well for about 2 minutes more.
  • Add boiled chole, salt to taste and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat for 6-8 minutes.
  • Turn off the gas and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Amritsari Channa Masala is ready.
  • It goes well with naan, Chapati, bhatura and fantastic with kulcha.
