Coconut Chutney is popular side dish and its served with South Indian breakfast like idli, rava dosa, dosa, appam and set dosa. In this post i am sharing simple and easy coconut chutney. The main ingredient of this chutney is coconut but apart from coconut, roasted channa dal is also added. roasted channa dal is optional because outside of India its hard to get this Dal. roasted channa dal is directly edible or you can use in any chutney. In this recipe i am using frozen coconut slices. you can use either frozen or fresh coconut.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup slices of coconut.

  • Coriander Leaves.

  • 1 or 2 Chilies.

  • 2 tsp Roasted channa Dal.

  • 1 to 2 garlic.

  • 1-2 tsp of water.

  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp mustered seeds.

  • Curry Leaves.

  • Salt As per required.

  • 1 tsp of oil.

Directions

  • Take 1 cup sliced coconut into the mixi jar. then add cumin seeds , chili ,roasted channa dal ,coriander leaves ,garlic then Add water.
  • Grind it into fine paste. Also add salt as per taste. if coconut chutney looks thick then add more water into mixi jar.
  • remove the coconut chutney into the pyrex jar or any steel bowl.

for tempring

  • Heat oil in a small pan.once the oil heat put mustard seeds.let them crackle.once the mustard seed crackle then add dry red chili , urad dal.Then add curry leaves.
  • Fry for a couple of seconds till the curry leaves looks crisp and red chili changes color.
  • Mix the tempring into the grinded paste.mix it well.
  • Coconut chutney is ready to serve.
