All we like dosa.I am big fan of dosa.There are so many kinds of dosa prepared in homes.Today i am going to share you set dosa.It’s popular in karnataka. Its soft dosa served with coconut chutney and saagu. To make a set dosa proper fermentation of batter is required.You can add toppings if you want more taste.or you can leave as it is. here i am using carrot and coriander leaves. set dosa remind me of davangere dosa.My husband is from Karnataka and we had many times. it was so tasty.

Ingredients for batter

  • 1 cup idli dosa rice(you can use any rice).

  • 2 tsp urad dal

  • 7-8 fenugreek seeds.

  • 1 cup soaked poha.

  • Carrot (for garnish).

  • Coriander leaves (for garnish).

Directions of making batter

  • In a bowl or a pan take rice, urad dal and fenugreek seeds.
  • Rinse all the ingredients for couple of time.
  • Drain and keep aside into bowl. In a separate bowl soak poha and drain all water from it.
  • Then add poha to the bowl.
  • Add 1.5 cup of water and soak of the ingredients for 5-6 hr.
  • After 7-8 hr add soaked ingredients into mixi jar.then add strained water in parts.check consistency. Don’t make batter watery.
  • Grind the ingredients into fine paste and take aside in separate bowl.once you grind all the ingredients, add 1 tsp of baking soda, 1 tsp of salt into the mixture.mix it well.
  • keep this mixture for at least 7-8 hr for fermentation.keep in warm place.
  • If the batter looks like thick you can add water as per required.

Directions of making set dosa..

  • Heat a pan or tawa. once the tawa is hot put oil on center of the tawa. spread oil using tissue paper. i am using tissue paper because dosa becomes more crispy on bottom side.
  • Take a laddle full of batter and put it on tawa. just spread batter lighly on tawa. this set dosa is thicker than other dosa.
  • once the bubble comes on top of the dosa add carrot fine slices and coriander leaves for toppings. cover with lid.
  • Drizzle some oil on a dosa.when base becomes crisp and golden brown , flip a dosa and shallow fry it for 2-3 min.
  • when the second side becomes golden brown.lift the dosa using flat spoon and keep aside in a plate.
  • Serve this set dosa with coconut chutney or saagu.
